Brief overview of local bus services Brighton to Shoreham etc: The
Brighton area probably has the best bus service in the
The main bus company is the Brighton & Hove Bus Company, which runs
frequent bus services to most parts of the city (including an approximate 10 minute services
towards Lewes and Eastbourne). There is a comprehensive evening
& Sunday service, including several night services (mostly running
6 nights a week). Stagecoach runs the 12
minute service 700, towards Worthing; and up to a half-hourly
service 17 towards Henfield and Horsham. Compass Travel runs a number of supported
bus services, within the city area, including the services 16, 37/37B, 47 and 52.
Metrobus runs services to/from mid Sussex and Crawley/East Grinstead, including the fast new service 273 to Crawley. Brighton

Lewes, Newhaven, Seaford: In addition to Brighton & Hove Bus Company's main services, there are a number of less frequent services (mostly run on a tendered basis), run by- Compass Bus and Cuckmere Community bus. For real-time information for other services- click here.
Worthing,Lancing, Littlehampton: Most services are run by Stagecoach, based in Worthing- including the service 700 which runs every 12 minutes to West Worthing and the overlapping 701 route running every 15 minutes between Lancing and Littlehampton. The former 700 Arundel service, has been replaced by the hourly service 9. There is also a new BSIP supported 500 route
A number of bus services run on Sunday, in the Worthing area. Evening services have expanded over the years. Compass Bus runs several bus services (including 8/8A, 16 and runs the service 7 on behalf of Stagecoach), and Metrobus runs the Worthing-Horsham-Crawley service.

Mid Sussex (including Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath). Within our area; both Metrobus and Compass Travel run services in Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath. Now a summery of mid-Sussex services to/from Brighton On Monday to Saturday, Metrobus runs around 2 buses per hour - through Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and Hassocks, to Brighton. The services 271 & 272 provide a near hourly link between the Princess Royal Hospital (Haywards Heath), and the County Hospital (Brighton). While both services continue Crawley, if Brighton is your destination, it is best to use the fast new service 273. There is also an hourly service 270 to East Grinstead, service.
On Sundays, Metrobus 270, 271 & 273 combine to offer a reasonable service. Compass Travel also runs the service 100 and other services, in Burgess Hill. Coach
Services: It is difficult to find Coach services to/from Brighton, other than the
coach services from Brighton to London, and that may run via Gatwick and Heathrow!, perhaps taking over 3 hours, or over three times the train journey!
